What it costs and how it works
A flying club sits between renting and owning: you own a share of real airplanes, share the fixed costs with a small group, and skip the headache of solo ownership.
Whether you're looking to build experience around McCall, explore Idaho's backcountry, or simply have access to a well-maintained aircraft, partnership is about having an airplane available when you want one.
Three parts to the cost
One-time buy-in
Your share of the club's aircraft and other club assets — an equity stake in the fleet, not a rental deposit.
Monthly shared cost
Covers the club's ongoing fixed shared costs — insurance, hangar, annual inspections and reserves — so the fleet stays airworthy and available year-round.
Hourly aircraft rate
Covers aircraft operating costs. You pay an hourly rate only for the airplane you actually fly — costs follow your logbook.
Current buy-in amounts, monthly shared costs and hourly rates change with the club's asset value and operating costs — ask us for the latest figures.
Good to know
- How many partners per airplane?
- Ten. That cap is deliberate — with just ten partners per aircraft, scheduling is typically easy.
- Can student pilots join?
- Yes. Many partners train in the club's Cessna 172, and the GLEIM BATD simulator is available to student pilots at special partner rates.
- Is a checkout required?
- Yes — every partner completes a checkout in each aircraft they intend to fly, with attention to mountain and density-altitude operations out of McCall.
- What if partnerships are full?
- Shares open up as partners come and go. Let us know you're interested and we'll reach out when a spot becomes available.
